“Working together, we plan to harness Navitas’ agent network and marketing expertise to grow international and domestic enrolments,” they said.

The college will be jointly run by Navitas and the university, with UCC’s existing staff staying in place.

A board of directors will be appointed that represents Navitas and the University of Canberra, led by an independent board chairperson.

UCC has been catering to both international and domestic students since 1998. It currently offers diplomas in programmes such as business, communication, design, information technology and science as well as English language tuition, and will expand its course offering through the partnership.

Students who successfully complete pathway courses are eligible to continue their studies at degree level at the University of Canberra.

University of Canberra deputy vice chancellor (global) Simon Ridings described the partnership as a “crucial development in the university’s growth strategy”, while John Wood, CEO of Navitas’s university programmes division, told The PIE News it creates a “powerful partnership opportunity”.

“Like Navitas, the University of Canberra College is focused on student outcomes and the student experience in its state of the art teaching and learning facilities,” Wood said.
