IDP virtual student fair, India

IDP Education, one of the world’s largest student placement organisations, has launched a ‘virtual’ education fair for Indian students looking to study in Australia.

"IDP will also help the students with application submission, offer acceptance, visa counseling and tuition fee payment"

The event, which is running January 16–27, enables Indians to speak to students and academics from Australian universities and other institutions through an online chatroom.

Harmeet Pental, IDP’s Regional Director South Asia, commented, “Having been associated with Australian universities for over 15 years now, we can assess that the situation in Australia has improved and there is an increase in the student interest.

“The virtual fair is one step to direct the students in selecting the right course and university for themselves and choosing the right option for higher studies. IDP will also help the students with application submission, offer acceptance, visa counseling and tuition fee payment.”

Twenty-eight providers are taking part including Central Queensland University, Carnegie Mellon University and Navitas. The fair is open to all Indian students, who can register free on the IDP portal before proceeding to the chatroom.

The company will also host roadshows for Australian, UK, US and Canadian universities across India from January 31 until February 21. More than 50 universities will take part in events at 11 cities.

IDP – which until 2009 only promoted study opportunities in Australia – is increasingly stepping up its activity as a global agency promoting study options worldwide. Last November, it launched a new Chinese language website for its Chinese clients, and in last May opened its first Turkish office in Istanbul – part of an ongoing expansion in the Middle East.

Maher El Bakry, IDP’s Middle East Regional Director, said of the Turkish venture: “With the strength of the IDP Education brand we expect to help many undergraduate and graduate students, both publicly supported and privately financed, realise their dream of studying overseas.”
