With each course taking place over two weeks across seven cities in Kazakhstan, the overall objective of the BSC Transnational Education project was to build the course participants’ confidence in promoting and managing a communicative and student-centred classroom in English.

“AIU are a great partner for BSC; they champion modern pedagogical methods and strive to bring the very best international educational standards to Kazakhstan which gives us lots of opportunities for future projects together,” said head of transnational projects at BSC, Magda Sobczynska. 

“They have a real focus on quality delivery which matches our own.”

Teachers were encouraged to experiment with a range of activities and give feedback on each other’s materials and techniques. 

They experienced ‘learning by doing’, ‘learning by discovering,’ ‘learning by applying’ and ‘learning from reflection.’

“It generated a great deal of interest, is productive, and the team of BSC trainers are incredibly professional,” added director of project department at Astana International University, Bauyrzhan Abuov. 

“They prepared school teachers for a new stage in education, which will improve the educational process in teaching subjects in English and modernise the training program in the future.”

A total of 1,012 teachers of physics, chemistry, biology and ICT took part between September and November 2019.

The collaboration marks one of the largest Teacher Training projects in Kazakhstan and the first Kazakh-British Partnership for Astana International University.
