The BUTEX International Conference is a three day conference which combines plenary lectures, pre-conference workshops and panel sessions focusing on topical issues of importance to professionals engaged in the field of study abroad and student exchange within higher education.

The next BUTEX Conference will be held at the University of East Anglia 7th – 9th July, 2014.

Topic Areas

Centred around this year’s theme Narrating Education Abroad: What’s Your Story?, we would like to invite you to share your personal and institutional experiences and ideas. Study abroad professionals, international education professionals, faculty members, 3rd party providers, and students are all invited to bring their perspectives to the conference.

All proposals are very welcome, but we would particularly encourage proposals on the following topics:

Widening Participation in Study Abroad – Emerging Markets in Study Abroad – Marketing Study Abroad – Study Abroad: Added Value for UK Domestic Recruitment – Developing Global Citizenship – Short Term Programmes – The Literature of Study Abroad – Study Abroad and the The Politics of Education – Operational Responses to Change – Pre-Departure – Debriefing Study Abroad Students – Increasing Interaction between Incomers and Outgoers – Scholarships and Finances – Dealing with Drop-Outs – Risk Assessment – International Student Experiences – Cross-Cultural Learning – Welfare Provision and Mentoring.

Sessions will last approximately one hour and may follow a panel, round table or interactive format.
