In September 2014, the EAIE Conference is heading to the centre of Europe, to Prague in the Czech Republic for its 26th Annual EAIE Conference.
Stepping into a new era
‘Stepping into a new era’ is the theme for the 26th Annual EAIE Conference. Internationalisation of higher education has gone from strength to strength over the last 25 years and higher education professionals are now looking to the next steps in internationalisation. This comes at a time when the dynamic field of international education is undergoing some of the greatest transformations ever, in all aspects of teaching, learning and administration. Will these transformations change the mould of the traditional higher education institution? What do the next 25 years have in store for us? The 2014 EAIE Conference will discuss these very questions as we take the next steps into a new era of international higher education.
The host city
Where better to discuss the new era of education than in a city which witnessed dramatic change during its ‘Velvet Revolution’ less than 25 years ago? Projecting the country and its people into a new age, this non-violent movement toppled four decades of communist rule; paving the way for a free and democratic state.
Described by many as a key cultural hub in Europe, Prague boasts an impressive national theatre, countless museums, art galleries and a long literary history which spawned writers including Franz Kafka. This culturally diverse compact city of 1.2 million has many faces: romantic and successful, ancient and modern, and completely cosmopolitan. Described as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, Prague will provide a stunning backdrop for this international gathering of higher education professionals at the 26th Annual EAIE Conference in 2014.
